The Lenten Recollection on Apr 21 (Sat)

 

What are your five loaves and two fishes? A Recollection with Fr. Bryan Duggan, Associate Vocations Director, organized by English Prayer Group at 7:30 p.m.

 

One Hour with Jesus.  Mandarin retreat by Fr. Peter Chiang at 1:30 p.m., organized by Mandarin Legionaries.

Stations of the Cross (Communal)    will be held on Apr 11 & 18.  English at 7 p.m. and Chinese at 8 p.m.

Lenten Confession Schedule on Apr 10 & 11 (Thu & Fri), 14 & 15 (Mon & Tue), starts at 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

 

First Friday Mass & Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament      Apr 4 (Fri).  Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 9:00 am to 7:45 pm. Vocations hour at 6 pm, Benediction at 7:45 pm followed by Mass in Cantonese at 8:00 p.m.  Please sign up at the Info Counter.

 

Two Popes, Two Saints Archdiocese will have a celebration for the canonization of Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII on Apr 27 (Sun) at Pacific Coliseum, PNE. Free tickets will be distributed and school bus may be arranged.  Please register at the Info Counter.

 

Catholic Movie          About Pope John XXIII - Pope of Peace's life from youth through priest, cardinal and pope....a simple country man, with great love and compassion towards the poor and out casts.....supposedly to be elected as the "interim pope". He surprised the Church and the world by calling the second Vatican Council.  Come to watch it on Apr 5 (Sat) at 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. at English with Chinese subtitle.

 

Year of Hope

 

"The virtue of 'Hope' consists of two basic concepts - Firstly, looking forward to eternal happiness and secondly, being confident that God will help fulfill our expectations. 

 

'Hope' is another side of 'Faith'.  'Faith' leaps us to the firm belief that God will keep His promises to love us, care for us and give us eternal happiness.  Thus 'Hope' is not the optimism of all Christians without ground. Instead, it gives us the solid proof of God's sincerity and mercy with Christ's giving up His life for us and in His Resurrection.  Even at the times of difficulties in our encounter in our lifetime,

'Hope' makes us to expect and rely without disappointment, on God's readiness to help us."

 

A Taize Prayerful Night for Pro-Life  Welcome all to light up our hearts with candles, songs and intercessions in Taize Prayers for the babies (reborn or will born), parents and grandparents (wounded or amazed) on Apr 4 (First Friday) 8:40 p.m. after Mass at Church.

 

RCIA - 2nd Rite of Scrutiny          Please continue to pray for our elected who are preparing for their baptism this Easter.

Parish Pastoral Council    will be held on Mar 21 (Fri) 7:45 p.m.  Each parish group should send at least one member to the meeting.

Neocatechumenal Way                The catechesis of the Neocatechumenal Way continues every Sunday and Thursday at 7:30pm in the parish hall. At this time we are at the central message of the good news (Kerygma) of the love of Jesus Christ for all of us sinners. We will then have a Penitential Celebration, an excellent way to help us enter the spirit of Lent. We will have also the joy of the presence of Archbishop Miller in one of the evenings of the catechesis.
